The Department of Library And Information
Science of the University Of
Mysore, established in 1966 is one of the
leading Library and Information
Schools in India. The hallmark of the
Department is its pioneering efforts in curriculum innovations and
development. The Department has constantly been striving towards making
its curricula responsive to the twin challenges of the changing dimensions
of the discipline and the qualitative and quantitative shifts in the
manpower needs of the society. In this direction, the syllabi and the
courses offered have been revised several times and, thoroughly
restructured thrice in the last 36 years of fruitful existence of the
Department. The department has grown steadily from strength to strength
in respect of faculty and teaching programmes. Currently the Department
has faculty strength of eight.
