IMO is a scholarship Olympiad exam aimed at cultivating scientific reasoning and logical ability among the students studying in class 11 & 12 through a test. This test is conducted at 2 levels 1 & 2. IMO Test Eligibility Criteria

IMO Olympiad, eligibility is different for both Level 1 and Level 2. The points given below are the eligibility criterion for the SOF IMO exam.

Level – 1

There is no specific eligibility criterion for the IMO 1st Level. All the students across the country enrolled in Class 1 to 12 are eligible.

Level – 2

Students who have been qualified for the 2nd level of the examination include:

  1. Top 5% of pupils class-wise, who appear for the 1st level exam,
  2. Top 25 rank holders’ zone-wise as well as class-wise
  3. Class toppers of each of the participating schools would at least 10 students appear in the exam & achieves 50% of qualifying marks. In case the application is received section-wise, students with the highest marks will qualify for the 2nd level irrespective of the section. For the section-wise registrations, the gold medal winner(s) may not necessarily qualify for the second level.

IMO Olympiad Syllabus 2022

Class – 11

Section – 1 : Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

Section – 2: Sets, Relations and Functions, Principle of Mathematical Induction, Logarithms, Complex Numbers & Quadratic Equations, Linear Inequations, Sequences and Series, Trigonometry, Straight Lines, Conic Sections, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, Limits and Derivatives, Probability, Introduction to 3-D Geometry.

OR

Section – 2: Numbers, Quantification, Numerical Applications, Sets, Relations and Functions, Sequences and Series, Permutations and Combinations, Mathematical Reasoning, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Probability, Descriptive Statistics, Basics of Financial Mathematics, Straight Lines, Circles.

Section – 3 : The syllabus of this section will be based on the syllabus of Quantitative Aptitude.

Section – 4: Sets, Relations and Functions, Sequences and Series, Permutations and Combinations, Limits and Derivatives, Straight Lines, Circles, Probability.

Class – 12

Section – 1 : Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

Section – 2: Relations and Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Matrices and Determinants, Continuity and Differentiability, Application of Derivatives, Integrals, Application of Integrals, Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Three-Dimensional Geometry, Probability, Linear Programming.

OR

Section – 2 : Numbers, Quantification, Numerical Applications, Solutions of Simultaneous Linear Equations, Matrices, Determinants, Application of Derivatives, Integration, Application of Integrations, Differential Equations, Probability, Inferential Statistics, Index numbers, Time-based data, Financial Mathematics, Linear Programming.

Section – 3 : The syllabus of this section will be based on the syllabus of Quantitative Aptitude.

Section – 4: Matrices, Determinants, Application of Derivatives, Integration, Application of Integrations, Differential Equations, Linear Programming, Probability.

IMO Olympiad Exam Preparation Tips 2022

  • Before preparing for IMO 2022 exams, gather all the information like syllabus, admit card, and exam pattern; this will help you organize your brain and reduce the stress for preparation and exam day nervousness.

Importance/Benefits of IMO (International Mathematics Olympiad)

Participants of the IMO (International Mathematics Olympiad) are ranked based on marks they scored. After the first level of the test, students can judge themselves academically at four different levels – within the school, city level, zonal level, and above all, at the International level.

Each student is provided with a Student Performance Report (SPR) after releasing the results of the IMO Olympiad. The SPR analyses the student’s strong and weak areas and gives a detailed performance comparison of the student vis-à-vis other students at School, City, Zonal and International level. Analysis of the student’s past 10 years’ performance is also provided.

What kind of questions are asked in IMO for class 11 & 12 Examination?

This examination is written in Objective Type in the duration of 60 mins. Having 35 questions for Classes 1 – 4 and 50 questions for classes 5 – 12. Each test consists of 3 or 4 sections based on subjects of Olympiads. For more details, visit the official SOF website.

Is there any Negative Marking in NSO 11th & 12th Examinations?

The questions will be of objective type in nature with multiple choice answers, and there will be no negative marking.
